Director of Development for Major and Planned Gifts Position General Description
The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a Director of Development for Major and Planned Gifts to begin March 1, 2012 (or not later than July 1), filling a position to be defined in part by the experience, background and personality of the successful candidate.
Episcopal, a college preparatory educational community of between 900 and 1,000 students and approximately 170 professionals, includes grades pre-K through 12. Episcopal is known historically for its academic performance, for its attention to the spiritual lives of its students, and for offering a wide range of opportunities for student education and development. Opportunities to excel in academics, arts, athletics, and community leadership characterize the school.
Specific Responsibilities:
Working with Director of Advancement, start a major giving and planned giving program with personal responsibility for identifying prospects, preparing donor briefs for the Head of School and volunteer leadership, facilitating meetings with prospective donors, and acknowledging all major gifts.
Manage a personal portfolio of approximately 150 major donor and planned giving prospects to ensure that timely steps are taken toward cultivation, solicitation, and closure.
Develop and implement prospect-specific strategies for cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects for programs and projects as set forth by the Board of Trustees. These strategies may include seeking ways of involving these donors further in the activities and leadership of the School as a means of on-going cultivation.
Work with the Director of Advancement, Head of School and Board of Trustees to establish and review annually policies for recognizing major gifts to the School, including naming policies and gift acceptance policies.
Make assessment calls, cultivate, solicit, provide recognition, and steward appropriately leadership and major gifts, with an emphasis on gifts at the $25,000+ level. Work with donors on several giving methods such as current, deferred giving, non-cash gifts, and gifts of stock. Build relationships with donors, and coordinate solicitations when appropriate, with the Head of School, fundraising counsel, the Director of Advancement, or volunteers.
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of Episcopal’s educational and strategic programs in order to effectively articulate the School’s priorities and fundraising objectives.
Working with the Director of Advancement, prepare and submit annual plans that contain specific timelines, projected results, and outcomes related to annual and ongoing project goals.
Develop and implement prospect-specific strategies for cultivating and soliciting planned giving prospects, as well as oversee marketing for the program.
Oversee major gift and planned giving budget.
Attend all appropriate Development and Major Gifts meetings.
Qualifications:
The position requires strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and computer skills. The candidate will have a strong background in successfully marketing and securing major gifts, and a high level of confidence in making oral presentations to prospective donors and volunteers. The candidate will be conversant in basic planned giving instruments. Experience working with high level volunteer leadership required. This person should have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment, and be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks by employing effective management strategies. Entrepreneurial outlook a plus. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge 7 and independent school culture is an asset. Some travel is required.

 Head of Upper School Position  General Description
The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a Head of Upper School to begin July 2012.
Episcopal, a college preparatory educational community of between 900 and 1,000 students and approximately 170 professionals, include grades pre-K through 12. Episcopal is known historically for its academic performance, for its attention to the spiritual lives of its students, and for offering a wide range of opportunities for student education and development. Opportunities to excel in academics, arts, athletics, and community leadership characterize the school.
The Upper School Division Head role works closely with the Head of School, the Middle and Lower School Heads, as well as the entire Administrative Council to ensure programmatic excellence for all students at Episcopal High School. This role oversees the daily execution of the Upper School and serves as direct administrator of Upper School students, faculty, and department chairs. The Upper School Division Head is supported daily by an executive assistant, a Dean of Students and an Upper School Counselor.

 Social Studies Chair Position For School Year 2012-13 The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a Social Studies Chair for the Middle and Upper Schools to begin August 2012.

Over the last few years, Episcopal has devoted substantial time to curricular development, utilizing both internal and external resources. Key areas of curricular development are social studies, science, critical thinking/higher order thinking, and service learning.
The role of the Academic Department Chair at Episcopal provides an opportunity for faculty to assume a vital administrative role, while maintaining a primary role as classroom teacher. Department Chairs collaborate with the Head of School, the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, and the supervising Division Head of the teacher involved to resolve personnel concerns within their department. Department Chairs are directly responsible to the three Division Heads and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, who review their work annually. A reduced teaching load provides time for assuming administrative duties.

Curriculum leadership and coordination including:
