Ballet I
Students will learn basic ballet technique in Vaganova, Cecchetti,
Balanchine, and Bournonville techniques. Students will be
introduced to dance history through outside reading and film.
Ballet II
Students will learn ballet technique in Vaganova,
Cecchetti, Balanchine, and Bournonville techniques on a more
advanced
level. Students will also study kinetic aspects to ballet
technique, dance history through outside reading and film.
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor.
Theatre Dance
Students will learn musical theatre dance techniques from
the 1920s to present. Techniques presented will include that
of choreographers Buzz Miller, Jack Cole, Bob Fosse and Michael
Bennett, among others. Students will learn about musical
theater dance productions through outside reading and film.
Psychology
This elective semester-long
course is designed to teach students about the roots of human
behavior.
The
class explores the history of psychology, the human life
span,
sensation and perception, altered states of consciousness, personality, individuality,
and abnormal behavior. Instruction and activities include
lectures, tapes, and assorted outside
activities.
