A team of three Episcopal fifth-graders finished
second in the state out of 82 teams in The Stock Market Game Program
sponsored by the Louisiana Council for Economic Education.
The team of Leah K., Ashleigh J. and Bailey R. earned
$38,333.41 for a 31.83 percent return on investment.
In addition to their second-place finish in state, the girls finished
first in their region against 49 teams.
Two other teams of Episcopal fifth-graders placed fourth and sixth
regionally and ninth and 11th in state. The three teams from Episcopal
were the only lower school teams participating in the competition,
which ran from Sept. 7 to Dec. 17.
Episcopal fifth-graders will also participate in the spring stock
market competition, which begins on Jan. 17 and runs through April.
According to The Stock Market Game website, the program reinforces
skills in math, language arts, social studies, critical thinking,
decision-making, cooperation, research and economics.
