Episcopal teacher Renee Chatelain was recognized as a 2006 MLK
Unsung Hero on Jan. 18. In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr., the LSU MLK Commemorative Committee annually presents the
award to individuals who work every day to ensure the existence
of social change and who give unselfishly of their time, talents
and energies to put diversity into practice.
According to the selection committee, Ms. Chatelain, a dance and
social studies teacher, was chosen based on her “tireless
dedication and commitment to diversity in the performing arts.”
