Three Episcopal students were elected to the Junior Classical
League state board during the league’s convention the weekend
of March 3 and 4 in Baton Rouge.
Sophomore Gina White was elected state secretary, junior Laura
Steitz was elected state editor and junior Hannah Park was elected
state second vice-president. The students will serve their terms
during the 2007-2008 school year.
During the current school year, Park was state historian, and
junior Caitie Miller served as state editor.
Additionally, 15 Episcopal students won individual awards at
the JCL convention. They are: Elisabeth Alost, first place, baseball
throw, and second place, oil/acrylic painting; Collin Babb, first
place, sight Latin reading, second place, mythology and mosaics,
third place, sculpture and academic decathlon, fourth place, Latin
literature, and fifth place, reading comprehension; Robin Bowman,
second place, ancient geography and baseball throw; Kalynn Chumney,
first place, 100-yard dash, second place, obstacle course, sixth
place, overall athletic sweepstakes; Caroline Cook, third place,
broad jump; Jules Dellinger, first place, modern myth essay contest
and pottery, third place, sight Latin reading, fourth place, mottoes,
reading comprehension and overall creative arts sweepstakes; Austin
Guidry, first place, Roman life and marathon; third place, 100-yard
dash and broad jump, fourth place, ancient geography, Roman history
and overall athletic sweepstakes, fifth place, Latin literature
and vocabulary; Celeste Henkelmann, first place, broad jump and
obstacle course, fifth place, overall athletic sweepstakes; Elise
Moore, second place, pottery, third place, photography; Elizabeth
Steitz, second place, 100-yard dash; Laura Steitz, fifth place,
Latin derivatives and vocabulary; Andrew Stolzle, second place,
marathon, third place, sight Latin reading and Latin grammar,
fifth place, broad jump; Gina White, second place, 100-yard dash,
third place, marathon and vocabulary, fourth place, Roman history,
Latin grammar and reading comprehension, fifth place, academic
decathlon and mottoes; Chloe Williams, fourth place, broad jump;
and Claire Williams, fifth place, reading comprehension.
Episcopal students also earned the following team awards: second
place, publicity, third place, spirit, and fourth place, coed
relay race.
