Session #1 - Today’s Toxic Culture
This session sets the tone for the entire program by exploring the culture to which our children are exposed. Everyday our kids are inundated with messages promoting violence as fun, sexual promiscuity, drug and alcohol use, and lack of accountability. Parents can no longer parent in isolation and must be prepared to monitor their child ’s exposure to the culture.

Session #2 - Put Yourself In The Way
Every child deserves a “crazy” mom or dad! One who isn’t afraid to show up and be a visible part of their child’s life. This session outlines the prevention process used throughout the workshop, and introduces the 5 A’s of prevention:
Be Aware!
Be Around!
Be Alert!
Be Assertive!
Be Awake!

Session #3 - Awareness Is Your Best Friend
Listen to your intuition. If you note changes in your child’s behavior, a sudden drop in academic interest, a new set of troublesome friends, don’t ignore the situation. This session outlines significant, observable lifestyle indicators which could signal positive or negative changes.

Session #4 - Remember The Difference
There is a significant difference between children and adults. Unfortunately the Toxic Culture is blurring that line. This session explores ways to ensure your child understands the difference between trust and being trustworthy. We will also explore how to develop 3 important character traits and how to set appropriate consequences for negative behavior.

Session #5 - Expect And Inspect
It has been said, “the quality of a crop is in direct proportion to the quantity of the farmer’s footprints in the field.” In today’s Toxic Culture, the quality of our children may be in direct proportion to the quantity of our footprints in their ROOM! This session outlines the need for families to develop and communicate a family belief system and the importance of inspection to ensure it is met.

Session #6 - Never Cry Alone
Communication is at the cornerstone of any successful relationship. This session helps parents break through the communication gap with their children by learning to communicate what they feel…not just what they think.

Session #7 - Traps To Avoid
This session explores 7 specific Parent Traps which keep our kids from becoming successful adults:
· Wealth without work.
· Education without character.
· Entertainment without conscience.
· Adulthood without childhood.
· Freedom without accountability.
· Love without limits.

Session #8 - Building A Family Vision
Companies do it. Organizations do it. Even individuals do it. The question is how many parents actually sit down and develop a mission statement or vision for their child? This session provides a time tested planning model that can help them organize a game plan for raising their child. By developing a Vision - Strategies - Projects - Tactics outline, parents can work with their children to help them reach their goals and dreams.

The Parent to Parent program offers flexible options for parents! Classes will be offered to parents in the mornings, during the afternoon, in the evening, or even on the weekend. As facilitators are trained we will contact you when an opening is available. If you would like to be trained as a facilitator please email us at Parent2Parent@ehsbr.org or inquire with your division’s school representative.
