Artwork by Larkin Dorris, third grader, has been selected for a national competition called VSA – Very Special Arts: All Kids Can Create. Larkin’s artwork is one of four pieces selected to represent our state in Washington, D.C. The theme of the competition is “Imagination Across America.” Students were encouraged to use creativity in the design and in the use of materials to share their favorite daydreams through art.
The title of her piece is “Splashing Dolphin World,” complete with an iridescent film covering the entire piece. Once her work arrives in D.C., it will compete again for a national touring exhibition. Two of the four Louisiana pieces will be chosen for the tour. A selection of the artists will be invited to a reception in Washington, D.C. over the summer.
