The following resources include information on a variety
of topics that may be helpful to parents. Most of the references
are recommended specifically for parents or under the supervision
of parents. Those that are appropriate for children to read
on their own as well as for parents are designated by an

Kids are Worth It: Giving Your Child the GIft
of Inner Discipline by Barbara Coloroso. This
is the book for our parent book study this year. For parents
of children of all ages! It is packed with excellent advice
and tips on how to handle the ordinary and extraordinary
parenting situations.
The Childhood Roots of Adult Happiness: Five
steps to help kids create and sustain lifelong joy by
Edward Hallowell, M. D. This book outlines a five step plan
that all parents can use to give their children the gift
of happiness that will last a lifetime: connection, play,
practice, mastery and recognition.
The Bully, the Bullied, and the Bystander by
Barbara Coloroso. A great resource to increase understanding
about the complex dynamics and roles of the bully, the bullied
and the bystander. Provides good advice on how to handle
numerous situations.
Queen Bee Moms and
Kingpin Dads: Dealing wtih the Parents, Teachers, Coaches
and Counselors who can make or break your child's future
by Rosalind Wiseman. A must read for parents
who want to deal with the other adults in their children's
lives with skill and compassion.
Being Happy- A handbook to greater confidence
and security by Andrew Matthews

by Trevor Romain. This is an excellent resource for students
to help them understand the difference between cliques and
real friends.
* How to do Homework without Throwing Up
by Trevor Romain. This book may be helpful to middle school
student to improve study skills as well as increase student's
motivation.
* Jarvis Clutch-Social Spy by
Mel Levine. This book may be helpful to middle school students
to develop and improve social skills.

Keeping A Head in School by Mel
Levine. This book is designed to help children aged eleven

recognize their strengths.
Queen Bees and Wannabes by Roselyn
Wiseman. This book offers insight into the world of girls
aged middle school and up as well as makes suggestions for
what parents can do at every stage.
