In the fall of 2001 the Instructional
Technology Committee began a process that led to the
development of a new technology plan for Episcopal. Herbst
and Associates developed the first plan in May of 1996.
It was a five-year plan that provided for the building of
the network infrastructure, staff development, Internet
access for teachers and students, and improved intra-school
communication.
In preparation for a new technology plan,
a number of committees were formed to conduct research and
study. One such committee, the assessment committee, focused
on developing tools to measure technology use and various
degrees of technology integration on our campus. Data collected
from these surveys, coupled with interviews from a variety
of faculty members and students helped determine the strengths
and weaknesses of our technology curriculum.
The Technology and Learning
Plan, written in
July of 2002. is a plan that has served as a guide for
our work for the past three years. With this work, we seek
to address faculty skill development, technology's impact
on education and how and what we need to teach our students,
and to adopt an established, proven framework to guide
our implementation of this plan.
